This Acceptable Usage Policy ("Policy") outlines the acceptable use of services provided by ProtonHost ("we," "our," or "us"). By using our services, you agree to comply with this Policy. We reserve the right to modify this Policy at any time, and your continued use of our services constitutes your acceptance of any changes.
1. General Use
ProtonHost provides web hosting services that may only be used for lawful purposes. You agree to comply with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws and regulations. You are responsible for any content that you transmit or make available through our services.
2. Prohibited Content
You may not use our services to host, post, transmit, or store any content that:
Promotes or contains material that is illegal, obscene, defamatory, libelous, threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, or that violates the privacy or publicity rights of any third party.
Promotes or contains material that promotes discrimination based on race, gender, color, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, disability, or age.
Promotes or contains any form of child exploitation or abuse.
Promotes or contains any content that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, or other proprietary rights of any party.
Contains or distributes software or other material protected by intellectual property laws unless you own or control the rights thereto or have received all necessary consents.
Promotes or contains any form of religious or political content.
3. Prohibited Activities
You may not use our services to engage in activities that include, but are not limited to:
Illegal Activities: Engaging in activities that are illegal under applicable law.
Adult Material: Hosting or distributing pornography, erotic images, or other lewd content. The designation of "adult material" is at our sole discretion.
Warez: Distributing or linking to pirated software, ROMS, emulators, hacking, password cracking, IP spoofing, and similar activities.
SPAM: Sending unsolicited bulk or commercial emails (UBE/UCE). This includes using a non-existent return email address, mail-bombing, subscribing someone else to a mailing list without their permission, posting the same article to multiple newsgroups, or using another network to send spam.
Resource Abuse: Using 50% or more of system resources for longer than 60 seconds, running cron jobs or scheduled tasks with intervals of less than 20 minutes, running MySQL or MS SQL queries longer than 15 seconds, and monopolizing bandwidth.
Security Violations: Attempting to circumvent or violate security measures, distributing viruses or malware, running IRC scripts or bots, and engaging in denial of service attacks.
Proxy Use: Running proxy scripts or other anonymity services.
Fraudulent Activities: Running fraudulent sites, such as phishing sites, Ponzi schemes, pyramid schemes, and investment scams.
4. Email Usage Limits
You may not:
Send more than 50 outgoing emails per domain per hour.
Use our services to send spam or unsolicited emails.
Use a non-existent return email address when sending commercial solicitations.
Mail-bomb (send numerous messages to the same user).
Subscribe someone else to a mailing list without their permission.
Post the same article to multiple newsgroups.
5. Website Content
You may not host or link to content that includes:
Religious or political content.
Unauthorized copying of music, books, photographs, or any other copyrighted work.
Selling or promoting drugs, alcohol, or tobacco products.
Lottery or gambling sites.
Sites focused on hacking, viruses, or other illegal activities.
Pirated software or warez.
Live streaming of sporting events or TV channels.
File dump or mirror scripts.
Mail bombers or spam scripts.
AutoSurf, PTC, PTS, or PPC sites.
Investment sites such as FOREX, E-Gold Exchange, Second Life/Linden Exchange, Ponzi schemes, or MLM schemes.
Fraudulent sites, including those listed at aa419.org or escrow-fraud.com.
6. High Resource Usage
You may not:
Use 50% or more of system resources for longer than 60 seconds.
Run cron jobs or scheduled tasks with intervals of less than 20 minutes.
Run MySQL or MS SQL queries longer than 15 seconds.
Run gaming servers, participate in file-sharing activities, run unattended server-side processes, run web spiders or indexers, run bit torrent applications, or include remote files via URL.
7. Backup Policy
ProtonHost offers a free backup service for shared and reseller web hosting clients with daily backups of our nodes for up to three days. However, you are strongly advised to maintain your own offsite backups. We are not responsible for data loss during a hardware or RAID failure.
8. Account Suspension and Termination
ProtonHost reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate this Policy. Accounts canceled or terminated for violating our terms do not qualify for refunds. If your account is suspended for non-payment, it will be suspended after three days and terminated after 30 days with no backup available.
9. Website Security
If your website is hacked or a virus is detected, ProtonHost may suspend your website for security and investigation. We may also disable any function or feature on our servers for security without notice.
10. Customer Conduct
ProtonHost reserves the right to cancel your account within 24 hours if you are exceptionally rude or vulgar in communications with our staff.
